Activities
The following staff-guided activities are available at a premium. To schedule any of these activities for your stay at the ranch, be sure to contact Kezia Toth at Kezia@fortunionranch.com at least two weeks in advance.
HORSEBACK RIDES – During off-season visits, ranch staff often are happy to guide trail rides. Kezia will work out the fee for off-season rides with any party that would like to take advantage of this opportunity. During the 12-week summer visiting season, wranglers are on hand to lead rides, and horseback riding is included in the Marshall House rental no extra charge.
NATURE WALKS/TOURS – The ranch has partnered with a neighboring nature preserve to provide short hikes. Visitors taking part in these fun and fascinating walks learn about the variety of biological and ecological systems at work here on the ranch. Master’s degree students from nearby Highlands University lead the hikes.
RANCH WORK – From cattle drives to roping lessons to fixing fence, we welcome you observing the daily work of cattle operations. Because of the high variability of ranch work, schedules and tasks are likely to change at a moment’s notice, so flexibility is key.
LANDSCAPE RESTORATION PROJECTS – Interested in what we are doing to ensure a resilient landscape for the future? Join our Resource Manager in his efforts to restore the ranch’s natural systems, whether the task of the daybe building one-rock dams or thinning encroaching vegetation.
